Wedderburn is steeped in heritage. It was originally established as a result of the gold rush in the 1850’s. Wedderburn was rich in gold and many nuggets are still found today by avid prospectors with the latest in detectors. There is a detector jamboree held in Wedderburn on the Labor Day weekend in March every year and prospectors come from all over the country to participate in the event. It’s no wonder Wedderburn is referred to as the Gold Seekers Town.
